OUR LUMINOUS, NUMINOUS POPE - 21 MONTHS OF FAITH, LOVE AND JOY
leoste. it has almost singlehandedly created lately a new genre of papal photographs that I classify
in my mind as 'luminous and numinous'. Ratzigirl today posts three new examples:
It's the radiance he has shed so profusely since he first appeared on the Loggia
on 4/19/05, making me decide instantly that the rosary I would say every day for him
and his intentions could not be other than the Luminous Mysteries, thinking of
him particularly in relation to the Transfiguration. I really think that early evening
of 4/19/05 was Benedict's personal Mt. Thabor.
Speaking of which, tomorrow (it's still the 18th here in New York) marks 21 months of Benedict XVI. It's hard to believe - more time has now passed since Deus caritas est
came out (12 months) than the time that preceded it (9 months). And the media may persist in calling some things a 'scandal' - even if they are not, and it is they who are creating the 'scandal' - but this Papacy so far has been very positive - for the Church and for Benedict himself.
We think of you all the time, dearest Papi, but the 19th has become a special day of grace. May you continue to abide in the Holy Spirit - and He in you - so that the Word of Christ may be heard and lived by all men through His Vicar's words and deeds.
Ad multos annos, our Beloved Benedict!
