Maryjos suggested a while ago that it might be a nice idea to open a thread for birthday greetings. However, since there are likely to be other types of events we would want to acknowledge as well, such as various anniversaries and hopefully the initiation into the church soon of a few of our members, I am labelling this thread, "Celebrations". Now that the thread exists, everybody has to let us know when their birthday arrives. You don't have to tell how old you are if that is something you would rather hide, but you do need to let us know when the birthday is here. Same thing for other great occasions so we can acknowledge them properly.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JIL

I know your birthday was a couple of days ago and I already wished you well but congratulations again. One can never celebrate a birthday too much. Well, actually I guess you can go overboard celebrating but not congratulating so happy birthday plus a couple days extra!

AND DON'T FORGET...
...PAPA'S SECOND NAME-DAY TODAY! Dear St. Benedict of Norcia, Patron of Europe, pray for this Benedict who faces a challenge to civilization as grave as you did in your time, if not more so.

I'm Home at last...
The church was dark as we processed in, the only light coming from the Easter candle and our candles. Thus began my homecoming. I took the name Marie for Confirmation. I was chosen to bring the gifts to the front of the church. As I knelt after my First Communion I heard a particular song in my head and heart. The song was "Arrival" by the 1970's group ABBA; it's instrumental with only background voices. It reminds me of the ships that brought immigrants to America... the first sight of land... people gathering on the deck to view the 1 thing that they longed to see - the Statue of Liberty... Like these immigrants the last year has been 1 of a journey... a journey of faith... of wanting to see the Lord in a new - different light. Not that I wasn't a Christian before... but I had never seen him in THE FULL LIGHT before. I don't look at this as the end of a trip but only the beginning of a great journey!

A HAPPY AND BLESSED EASTER TO ALL
Beatrice has put together this beautiful 'card' to commemorate Papa's first Holy Week as Pope,
and I thought it was most appropriate for an Easter greeting.
'Luce sul nostro cammino" - Light along our way

A HAPPY AND BLESSED EASTER TO ALL

We look forward to Year-2 of the Benedictine Papacy and all the Christian joy our beloved Holy Father will continue to bring to the world.
And to us, most especially - his loving and devoted Benaddicts.

A very special day today to celebrate - "Un Anno d'Amore" as they write on the Italian Forum, and it is true. What a wonderful year that we could spend together with Papa. And I remember that I was so nervous on that 19th April 2005 because I didn't know whether I really wanted "my Cardinal" to become Pope. But now I know that it had to be him and Papa is getting younger every day.

Sybella,

I thought I noticed earlier that you wrote that you had been confirmed this weekend. I wanted to congratulate you on that. As the bishop told us when I was confirmed, now you are a soldier of Christ and must cherish, protect, and defend the faith in a mature way, no longer as a child. I don't suppose they say that any more but it is a big deal and worth celebrating. Congratulations!!
