nonostante tutto, persino con le belle foto di The Fwoosh non riesce proprio a piacermi... è un accozzaglia di pezzi che tra loro non centrano proprio niente...

Alla fine non è brutto per niente.
C'entra poco come c'entrano poco tante altre cose dei MOTU, ma la linea in questo è sempre stata molto "carnevalesca".
Se .org e i suoi amministratori/moderatori non avessero fatto la "caccia alle streghe" che è stata fatta, sarebbe passato come tanti altri personaggi discutibili della linea. |

Se .org e i suoi amministratori/moderatori non avessero fatto la "caccia alle streghe" che è stata fatta, sarebbe passato come tanti altri personaggi discutibili della linea.
Quoto in pieno. Ho sempre difeso Spector, un po' per partito preso (come quello opposto, del resto), un po' perchè ritengo che il personaggio non sia malvagio.
E' vero che c'entra poco con i MOTU, ma è altrettanto vero che l'universo dei Masters è davvero infinito, quindi un posticino per lui si può pure trovare.

ciò che lo penalizza è il fatto di non essere stato disegnato
da un professionista e paga alcune ingenuità di base, ma bisogna
ammettere che la realizzazione ha molti elementi accattivanti:
l'avambraccio sx con la mini cosmic key è uno degli accessori
meglio realizzati dell'intera linea; la pistola è nettamente
meglio della media delle altre viste finora; il sistema
armatura-fondina è molto ben congegnato (sono i colori e l'asso
di spade che lo fregano).
poi, vabbè, il fatto che sia un personaggio disegnato da toyguru,
si porta dietro tutta una serie di conseguenze, ma, francamente,
quando eravamo bambini non sapevamo una ceppa di sweet, taylor
e mayer, ne ce ne fregava molto che i motu li avessero disegnati
loro o qualcun altro, per cui non vedo perché la cosa oggi mi
dovrebbe indicare qualcosa... |

Sono d'accordissimo.
Non capisco perchè un Rio Blast o un Dragstor sì, e questo no. L'unica eccezione è - ovviamente - la componente affettiva (che in una linea nostalgica come questa è tutto), ma brutto non è di certo.
Poi se penso che uno come Geoff Johns ha partorito una mezza calzettina come Lazer Lot. |

Scott "Toy Guru" Neitlich sat down with us to answer some fan questions about his upcoming MOTUC figure "The Mighty Spector". And check out the awesome art from freelance illustator Axel Gimenez!
Mattycollector: You have mentioned Spector is a “Time Agent”. What does that mean?
Scott: As noted in Spector’s bio, he is originally a Palace Guard who is thrown into the future during King Skeletor’s very brief reign. During King Skeletor’s magical raids on local magicians, a lot of stuff went haywire and a few cracks in time opened. One royal guard fell through. In the future, King He-Man was (or will be) faced with new threats attempting to change the past and future. His Time Agent is there to stop this. He is like James Bond, only with a time travel suit.
MC: So who are these threats to the time-line?
SDN: Oh, we have that thought out, but our lips are sealed for now!
MC: Why introduce time travel into the world of MOTU?
SDN: Well technically, time travel has been around in MOTU for a while now. Heck, it was a major part of the 1987 movie which is why we incorporated the “Cosmic Key” visually into the Vortex Suit. The 1987 toy line was also about He-Ro and Preternia. He-Man uses time travel in the very last mini comic! So it felt natural to go there. When we proposed the 30th line to management as a way to bring back the “feeling of seeing a character for the first time as a toy” (that the vintage line was known for), management also asked that we use these new characters to “move the brand forward”. He-Man already went into space and in the final mini comic he is seen traveling in time. Spector kinda picks up on this theme and runs with it. Toy lines (at retail) need to rebrand themselves every year (new themes, new packaging). So just like “Space” became the theme for the 1989 line (New Adventures) it is conceivable that “time travel” might have been the next theme Mattel might have used to reinvent the line if it had kept going and needed a new theme for a hypothetical retail line in a new year. – That was a mouth full!
MC: What can you tell us about Spector’s Vortex suit?
SDN: All of Spector’s time travel powers come from the suit. I know some fans are done with my BTTF and Star Trek time travel references but please bear with me here: The wrist mounted Cosmic Key is like the time circuits powered by the plasma pellets (that also power his blaster and can project energy weapons like knives and whips). The Cosmic Key wrist device is used to input the destination time. The suit itself is the DeLorean and uses the chest harness as the Flux Capacitor (the lines light up when it is activated). So really, anyone who “wears” the suit has the ability to travel in time. One of the things that is great about MOTUC as a line is we made sure all heads were swappable from day one. So if you want to give He-Man the Vortex suit (or any character) you can swap heads. Heck, you can have an army of Time Agents and give everyone in your collection a Vortex Suit if you want! Just grab a Mighty Spector, remove the head, and pop on anyone and you have an instant Time Agent figure!
MC: So why doesn’t Spector use the suit to go back and stop Adora from being kidnapped or tell Evil Lyn to stop freeing bad guys?
SDN: Like in most Sci-Fi, time travel is very dangerous. Spector was given the suit because of how loyal he is (proving this as a royal guard). King He-Man (in the future) recruited Spector and tasked him with using the suit to protect the time stream from bad guys who want to mess with it. He only uses the suit for specific missions to stop bad guys or recruit allies. He won’t try to change events, but he could potentially pull someone from time the instant before they were going to meet an untimely end and pull them into the future or something. There are a lot of possiblities.
MC: What about other Time Agents?
SDN: There certainly could be. Right now we just have Spector wearing the Vortex suit. My idea was these are not easy to make and their is just one (or else everyone would have one!). But anything is possible. You can easily create as
many Time Agents in your personal adventures as you want by using the above swappable head suggestion!
MC: Will Spector be appearing in the upcoming mini comics?
SDN: All of the 30th figures show up (except for the new winner who was not selected at the time the minis were drawn!). We did this to both create shield art for the package and to legitimize them in the world of MOTU. The shield art from Spector’s package is from mini comic issue 2 included with Snake Man At Arms in June.You will see the art first on Spector and see what was happening in that panel in June.

Bè intanto io quelli che reputate "scarsi" tra i vintage come Snout Spout, Rio Blast, Dragstor ecc li ho sempre adorati.
Intanto ricordiamoci che avevano la componente gimmick, il che giustificava per buona parte il loro aspetto e il loro background.
Per cui non capisco perchè tirarli dentro, non centrano niente...
Lazer (o Laser, ancora non ho capito quale dei due sia giusto) io lo trovo favoloso.
Cosa ha di non MOTU me lo dovete spiegare.
Un'altra cosa ci tenevo a dire: ci si lamenta sempre della stella sceriffo di Rio Blast, o delle picche di Spector, ma non dimentichiamo cosa porta He-man in pieno petto... per non parlare della G di Tytus, o della H di He-ro... il fatto che simboli e alfabeto terrestri siano presenti su Eternia non significa che non possano starci...
la croce di He-man si chiama croce di ferro, ed è un simbolo prussiano (poi tedesco) creato dal Re Federico Guglielmo III nel 1813, ed è una sorta di Medaglia al valore militare.
Per cui... se ci sta quella, non vedo perchè non ci possa essere la stella dello sceriffo... o il simbolo di picche.
Ma il discorso su Spector per me è puramente estetico.
I colori vanno benissimo, tutti i Masters hanno dei colori pazzeschi se ci fate caso, tutti.
Pochissimi esclusi.
Non discuto che alcuni dettagli siano belli, spero che la fondina possa essere riutilizzata per qualche altro personaggio.
Anche la testa, per quanto non mi piaccia, non ha nulla che non va.
Il discorso non è da vedere sui singoli componenti del personaggio, ma su come sono stati assemblati... quel che stona davvero è che è un minestrone di ottimi ingredienti, ma che tra loro non centrano niente, e che quindi risulta troppo indigesto...
insomma, io un minestrone composto da: zucchine, melone, mandarini, nutella, stracchino, salame piccante, fragole, couscous, merluzzo, olive, pistacchi e carote non me lo mangio... se a voi piace de gustibus :P
Io comunque i Motuc lo sostengo sempre e comunque, lo sapete... ;) |

Io non ho detto da nessuna parte che Rio Blast o Dragstor sono scarsi. Li adoro e li amavo da piccolo (specie Dragstor) ma sono da sempre additati come tra quelli meno omogenei con il resto della linea ed erano giusto esempi.

insomma, io un minestrone composto da...
Per me sono i MOTU in generale ad essere un gran minestrone: tanti generi, tanti colori, tanti elementi a volte mischiati in maniera audace e/o pacchiana. È l'essenza dei MOTU e ancora non capisco - ad esempio - perchè non abbiano fatto un Beast Man arancio fluo come l'originale (che era il top della pacchianaggine).
E c'è chi (ancora) grida allo scandalo per questo personaggio. Che balls...
