Thank God. I finally figured out how to join this forum despite my pitiful knowledge of Italian. I don't know what I agreed to in order to log in but I don't care. I did it! Okay, now somebody else needs to join so I have somebody to talk to. Waiting.... |

It's li'l old me! That was fast, Benefan. I was away a few hours and here you are! What do you think of the two gorgeous new black-and-white photos of Il Bel Cardinale on Page 21 of the Foto della Buonanotte??? The one touched up by Rosa is, as Ratzigirl says, truly angelic! I hope the other girls on the RFC forum see these pics!!! |

Believe me, my entry into the forum was not all that fast. If I were a) more computer literate or b) more knowledgeable about Italian, it would have gone much more quickly. Still, it really only took a little while after I decided I didn't care what the contractual wording said. And I only had to look up one word in my Italian dictionary in order to log on. I am extremely proud of myself. I noticed that one of the RFC members mentioned on the RFC site that this site was up so I wrote there that I had joined it. I hope others will join too so we can have some interesting conversations. Meanwhile, regarding your question about the cardinal, he looks good anytime any place, in any kind of outfit. God bless our glorious Papa and God bless Ratzigirl and you too, Teresa, for this wonderful site. |

Hi Nan,
Glad to see you found us. Every time I log onto this site I feel like I've stepped off a plane in Rome. What a great sensation!
Morning, Teresa,
I'm looking forward to the articles you mentioned. Going to check the Italian pages now to see if they've posted any new photos. I think joining this forum will help me in my struggles to learn Italian. Something better. |

Hey, Yvonne, welcome, welcome. You did a pretty good masquerade of me there. I admit the logging in or not logging in thing is a bit confusing. I am delighted to see you too managed to sort through the Italian instructions and were able to post. I hope you will continue to write in. As you can see, at the moment, we are a small but hardy group seeking choy in Italy. I was just admiring the 2 photos on the RFC and a few posted here today of Papa in his red cape. It makes him look like SuperPope, especially since the wind made the cape billow out behind him. He really looks cute in that outfit but as it continues to get colder for his outdoor audiences, I hope they let him wear his white quilted jacket from Les Combes. Don't want the poor man catching cold while he is accommodating his adoring crowds.
By the way, I notice we are all "junior members". It is so nice to be called "junior" at my age. I wonder how long I can keep that designation. [Modificato da benefan 23/11/2005 18.12] |

Stealing a few minutes to look into the forums...I love the first photos posted from today's GA....Bea has already put together her first montage of the Superpope photos from today's audience on the French thread of this forum...I can just see new items popping up in the press remarking on the Pope's "new" costume. I've seen a few pictures of JPII in the same red cape (and matching brimmed hat)worn in cold weather - I suppose a regular overcoat would not look quite papal.
Apparently, there were 27000 present at today's audience despite the cold...I think normally audiences at this time of year are held indoors because of the weather, but the biggest indoor hall in the Vatican holds only 6,000. I wonder if this is another record for B16....I don't know how many people the Basilica itself could accommodate - could it hold more than 6000?

Today's Audience and his lovely cloak!!!! Hope this works again everyone!!!! Didn't Papa looks splendid, magnificent, beautiful today in that red cloak! I've seen one photo of him wearing it - it must have been in the summer - so I suppose he was just trying it for size or something!!!! I wonder which of the two tailor's supplied it.
Looked quite chilly and windy in the square today.
I think they do go inside, into the Paul VI Audience Hall, when the weather gets cold - but it won't hold 27,000 that's a certainty!!!!!!! Papa is attracting such big crowds, and it's not surprising is it!!!!!
Great being able to use these smilies that say so much!
Buona sera! Love, Mary x |

I read that it was 45 degrees or less and windy at the GA today so I really wonder if that cape kept Papa warm enough. I hope they supply him with papal long underwear for conditions like that. Welcome, Mary. And, Yvonne, I'm glad you are posting officially now. Here's a link to an article from Catholic News Service about Papa's term so far. Some of it's new info; some, old.

gracelp, I wish I could help you with the password problem but I'm clueless. Teresa just emailed me that she is translating some articles to post but will be online afterwards so maybe she can help you then. I do think the password has to be 8 letters with at least one being a numeral and one a character. It's really nice to see you here.
foster2cats, I have no idea what you agreed to. I just clicked accepto or whatever. I was so motivated to join this forum, I probably would have agreed to mortgage my house to do it but I really hope that's not what I did. I think you are safe though. I've been a member for two whole days now and haven't received any annoying messages or been contacted by the CIA. I'm very glad you have joined us here too.
Isn't Italy beautiful, y'all? By the way, one of the Yahoo photos of Papa today in his SuperPope cape at the general audience showed GG very sweetly trying to wrap it around him to keep him warm once he had sat down. I thought that was nice but all the other photos showed the cape falling back exposing Papa's chest to the cold. I think now that we are closer to the Vatican by means of this site, we should request that they dress Papa more carefully for such cold, windy weather. We want that guy around for a long, long time. Maybe a thick red vest to match the cape.

This is a test reply . I thought I had done everything right to get a log-in ID but somehow I failed. Maybe Theresa Benedetta could post a little crash course. Did it say the password has to be 8 characters on of which has to be a symbol and one of which a number? If nothing else, most of of will improve our understanding of the Italian language. Willow |

Hi, Willow, welcome. I think you are right about the password. It took me a bit of effort to get that part straight too. If Teresa doesn't burn herself out translating those 3 articles tonight, maybe she can post a few sentences on how to get logged in as a member. Since I went through that yesterday, it is too long ago for me to remember the procedure. I wonder if foster2cats or somebody else who joined today is around and could explain just in case Teresa would like to stop and eat dinner too before coming back here.
Remember these portraits of Papa. I think they were in progress when we saw them last but they were given to him at the audience this week. He looks very swashbuckling in that red cape, doesn't he?
